Staring down any path, from any height to any
distance, leaves most of us with a sense of potential destiny.
There are no
guarantees that we will learn the secrets of alchemy, that we will ever gain
the ability to turn anything terrible into gold. There are also no guarantees
that we won't either.
The ability
to stare down any path means that we have the opportunity to end up somewhere
unexpected, or somewhere that we hope we will end up.
At the start
of our day, if we look up from the floor to the horizon line, we are all given
the understanding that we are both in control and out of it, all at the same
time.
This gift of life
and its many potential gifts are found in both chaos and ether.
There is no
guarantee that the path you have chose will lead to cities of gold, to
adoration, to accomplishment, to a feeling that you have arrived; and the best
anyone can do is carry the weight of their fears, hopes, and ambitions, and
pray that they may find something upon the path that reminds them of home.
