The desire to fit in. What does it take to know
where you are supposed to fit in exactly?
Should you find the safe path and find the
monotonous and indistinct crowd?
Should you put aside all resistances and join the
ones with their heads down, to guarantee a simple easy life for the most part?
Or should we all choose to fight against mediocrity and sameness? Is it more
important to celebrate our differences?
Should we wake up and cast aside all notions of
trying to fit in anywhere at all?
Should we aim to become different?
Is it not greatness to battle normalcy? To speak
your mind open and honestly, even when those words might lead to alienation?
Is it not greatness to strive to stand out among
the colorless? Or should we seek comfort in the grey masses?
Can one truly fit in with themselves if they do not
act on everything honestly?
Can anyone even trust that they know what honesty
really is, if they spend their time trying to fit in somewhere else, with
someone else?
In the end, it really doesn't matter whether we fit
in with beings of greatness or with the hollowed and broken; because what
matters more than anything is whether you fit in with the reflection in the mirror.
Today you may walk with giants and superheroes, and
tomorrow you may walk with derelicts and villains, but you will every day,
every moment and always, walk with yourself.
Be honest and follow instinct and the rest will
fall in to place; this I promise.
