Yesterday Danbox witnessed the pain and emptiness of a dead
forest.
Today I could tell that he had found hope in one left untouched and
thriving.
We cannot choose what we witness in this lifetime, and there is no avoiding
the sadness, the pain, or the anger that we experience for our failings as
supposedly intelligent and compassionate human beings; and closing our eyes
doers not hide anything for very long.
We cannot control the depth of the scars being carved upon the things
that we love, and sacrifices will inevitably have to be made as we try to
protect everything that we hold dear to our hearts.
Despite this lack of control, we do not need to bow our heads in defeat
for our apparent weakness; because we do have some control, and that control is
found in our choice of reaction.
We can choose to feed our sense of discomfort by taking a negative
approach and choosing to look at only one side of the story, or we can also
take the time to embrace optimism and hope, in even the darkest moments, and we
can fight to uncover the other side of the story; the better side.
Not everything is dead forests and progress.
Some things are still beautiful and untouched.
Some things are worth fighting to see in a better light.
Not everything is wicked in nature and devious to the core. Some things
are a sacrifice made in the hopes of discovering more than what we currently
have.
I will try to keep my eyes open for as long as I can.
I will try to force myself to accept the pain of progress and hold on to
the peace that a forest untouched still brings.
