Day 291 "No Warning For The Selfish"

Can't you hear me as you walk away from all of this?
You used to care about the concern I had for your well being, but now you just stick to your own selfish path.
You take for granted the effort that I put in, all the tears that I held back in order to show you my strength, and even the darkness I took on to protect your smile.
Still you walk, one selfish step after another, and you always think I will be here to protect and forgive you, don't you?

Every step you take you now take alone, and even though I can see the path that lies before you, this time I am not going to warn you of what you are about to trip over, this time I will not offer you the advice that a true friend would.
This time you will have to brace yourself for the fall without my guidance, because you chose a selfish path, unaware that I cannot be invited along, and ignorant to the strength that I gave you while I weakened myself in the process.
This time we will do what humans tend to do; this time we will have to take this time for granted.

Perhaps in the future we might get this right?
