It is the hardest thing to give away any part of yourself to another.
What is on the surface is simple enough to let go of, but the deeper you
go beyond your own defensive walls is where it gets a bit trickier.
We do this in faith, we do this in hope, and we do this because we have
to.
We continually open ourselves up and drop our defenses to give someone a
chance to be more than what we fear they might be hiding. We take chances on a
possible outcome. We blindly walk out into the sun.
Every step of the journey is unknown, and it becomes habit to trip, to
fall, and to try again.
We give too much, we hold back too little.
We give too little, we hold back too much.
We try to find that line that connects us, and find out what that thread
exactly means?
Some of us give away only the lies on the surface until the truth in the
depths can be found through sheer determination alone.
In a world where it is easier to destroy than create, easier to walk away
than to stand your ground, and much easier to look away from your own destiny;
in a world like this, it takes a lot of strength to give any true part of yourself
away in the first place.
It takes even more strength to let someone in close enough to embrace
what it is that they are trying to give you.
It takes so much more to invite in the possibility of futures and their
potential endings.
The depth of anything we offer is not what matters the most.
What matters most is the honesty in what it is that we choose to give
away.
What matters most is that we try, that we honestly try.
What matters most is that through the act of giving yourself away that
you allow another to also do the same.
