In the pursuit of happiness, we strive to be successful, to be
acknowledged, and to be relevant.
Constantly building and reworking ourselves, editing the script to tell
a better story than the honest truth.
We add more and let go just as much, and unlike alchemy, this is not
always an equal trade. Sometimes we give only to lose, we take only to keep,
and other times we choose to do nothing at all.
We surround ourselves with proof of the power of money.
Our houses have no mirrors to reflect the truth...that we are
unfulfilled.
We complicate the path that we walk by unwillingly throwing stones in
our way to trip upon, these pockets full of stones made up of our history.
In the pursuit of happiness, we value both greatness and grandeur, and
we erase even more words from our honest script.
There is value in removing ourselves temporarily from the grind, and the
immense pressure of the machine. This machine that keeps moving through our
hearts as we try to forget that it exists. This very machine that has us chasing
man made things like they matter more than the things man cannot make; time.
There is success in only being relevant to the moment that you are in. There
is beauty and fulfillment in a spiritual awakening.
Sometimes alchemy can be a fair trade-off.
The truth is a willful creature, and it desires to be known above all
other things.
We can focus on success and the ego.
We can desire to erase our histories with the truths we wish were ours.
We can tell the world that we are fulfilled; but they will always see
that you gave up too much while trying to turn dust into gold.
