We never mean to hurt the ones we love, but sometimes it is, secretly,
exactly what we end up trying to do.
We are selfless, but we can be so selfish as well.
This flawed human heart that both defends and destroys.
This desire to protect those that defend us, but to destroy those that do
not, it is a deadly tightrope that we walk.
You can say you love another while holding onto an anger so strong that
it outshines the sun. You can offer both an embrace and a knife to the back at
the same time.
You can become divided and two minds controlling two hearts that used to
be one.
You can never mean to hurt at the same time as trying to kill.
We never mean to hurt ourselves, but sometimes that is exactly what we
end up trying to do.
We suffer in silence as we force away any positive thought that might
derail our destructive desires, this time I will succeed in the burning of this
bridge.
These flawed and amazing human hearts that never let go of hope until we
are strong enough to let it go.
These beautiful and complicated human hearts that have so much capacity
for love and rage, and all at the same time.
We may never mean to hurt the ones we love, but even if we do, we can
always learn from these incredibly flawed and complicated human hearts of ours,
we can always learn lessons of humility, of forgiveness, and of hope to not
make the same mistake again.
